In this new edition of the Urban Contemporary Art Guide, we have decided to provide a more in depth focus on the work of only fifty artists. Our choice was prompted by a desire to make our readers discover or rediscover creators who especially marked us over the last twelve months.

This list does not pretend to be “objective”. Instead, our selection of artist is a screenshot of the urban contemporary art scene that reflects one particular moment in time.

The other novelty of this edition is that we decided to not only feature studio productions but also leave room for the outdoor works – walls and others – of our selected artists. The first criteria of urban art taxonomy being outdoor interventions, we wanted to put it back at the heart of our approach. This is why we have included artists like Eduardo Tresoldi, who does not produce studio work. This new take has allowed us to widen our scope.
